Futile Cycles: Veglia

Futile Cycles: Veglia completes a trilogy which includes the projects dedicated to the sculptor Giuseppe Gaggini (1791-1867) and the merchant Antonio Boggiano (1778-1860). In this case, at the center of my interest is the figure of Paolo Veglia, a Piedmontese man of letters who died young during an ocean crossing.

Description

Born in Savigliano in 1806, immediately fatherless, Veglia moved away when he was still very young, living for a few years in France, in Paris and Montpellier, where he studied medicine. In France he became friends with Victor Hugo and other exponents of the romantic literary world, as well as with the famous doctor Delpech. Shortly after the latter had been killed by a disgruntled patient, Veglia left, not even thirty years old, for Havana.

About Futile Cycles Veglia

The project began in 2023 with the first bibliographic research and the consultation of documents at some historical archives.
